A new cultural space in Ferrara
Brand identity
2016
Palazzo Gulinelli, a historic building in Ferrara, became a school before being damaged by a 2012 earthquake.
I was tasked, alongside an art director, web developer and copywriter, with creating a new identity that celebrate its history and helps raise funds for its restoration through engaging promotional materials, inviting visitors to explore the building and discover ancient artefacts uncovered during the restoration process.
Logo design
The logo, inspired by the architectural details of the building and the Gulinelli family’s heraldic lion, serves as a focal point of the identity.
This design pays tribute to the building’s historical significance while embracing a contemporary aesthetic that positions Palazzo Gulinelli as both a cultural and educational destination.

Brand guidelines
A comprehensive set of guidelines was developed to ensure consistency across all brand touchpoints. These guidelines celebrate the Gulinelli family and the building’s history while embracing a contemporary aesthetic.
They provide a clear framework, positioning Palazzo Gulinelli as a cultural and educational destination.
Brand rollout
Following the creation of the logo, the brand identity was expanded across various channels, including a responsive website designed to allow visitors to book tours, explore the building’s history, and stay informed about upcoming events.
Ensuring the site’s adaptability across multiple devices required a thoughtful approach to the grid system and interactive elements, providing an optimal experience at every screen size.
Brand rollout
Alongside the website, we developed stationery for Canonici Mattei's staff, visitor guides, brochures, posters and flyers, ensuring the brand remained cohesive and engaging across all touchpoints.
Outcome and impact
The brand identity established a renewed purpose for Palazzo Gulinelli, transforming it into a destination that bridges history with modern engagement.
Through a cohesive design strategy, the brand not only preserved the building’s heritage but also attracted a broader audience, fostering deeper connections and supporting its ongoing restoration.
